Dr Charise Deveney
Clinical Psychologist

Dr Charise Deveney is a qualified clinical psychologist from Macquarie University. Charise’s special interest is in the treatment of antenatal and postnatal distress, working closely with a number of Obstetricians on Sydney’s North Shore.

Charise is currently evaluating her group program, Managing Motherhood, that supports women in their transition into Motherhood. Charise also lectures Sydney University medical students who complete their obstetrics and gynaecological training at the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Charise lectures on perinatal mood disorders.

Charise has received specialist training in working with perinatal mood disorders and working with couples dealing with perinatal loss and grief. Charise has completed specialised studies at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health.

Charise is a warm and compassionate therapist with a genuine interest in people and a desire to help her clients live the life they want. Charise is an Honorary Associate of the Macquarie University Psychology Department and the Centre for Emotional Health.

Sally Freedman 
Psychologist
BA/Psych, PGDip Science/Psych, MAPS, G/Cert Child and Adolescent Mental Health

Sally is a fully registered psychologist with extensive experience working with families during the perinatal period across health, community and not for profit settings. Sally moved into private practice at Lets Talk Psychology in 2015.

Over the course of her career, now spanning 20 years, Sally has provided psychological assessment and treatment to parents experiencing postnatal depression, anxiety disorders, conception difficulties, fertility issues, pregnancy loss and trauma. Sally is grateful to be supporting parents during their adjustment to parenthood and recognises challenges that commonly occur.  Sally’s strong interest in working with parents experiencing bonding and attachment difficulties developed during her five years working for a large not for profit organisation. Sally provided consultation and training to many adoptive and foster parents; supporting them to develop secure attachments with their non-biological children. Sally is a firm believer in early intervention for the parent-child relationship in order to provide a good foundation for mental health across the lifespan.

Sally is a warm, non-judgmental therapist who works collaboratively with individuals, parent-child dyads, couples and groups. Her treatment modalities are tailored to each individual and may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal therapy and attachment focused interventions including Circle of Security. Sally’s specialist training in parenting groups and child and adolescent mental health allows her to continue to support families with positive parenting practices as their children grow and develop through the years.

Sally’s is currently developing/running group programs to reduce feelings of isolation and create safe compassionate communities for expecting and new parents. In some circumstances, Sally is able to provide video conferencing sessions to to those living in remote and rural areas of Australia.

Anna Waddington 
Psychologist
BA, BSc, PGDipPsych, PGDipAppPsy

Anna is a warm and caring registered psychologist with over 10 years experience working across community and not-for-profit sectors, as well as in private practice. Anna has been at Let’s Talk Psychology Practice since 2015. Anna is skilled in helping individuals cope with anxiety, depression, life transitions and relationship issues. Anna understands the many challenges couples face as they try to conceive and also the challenges that exist during pregnancy and into parenthood. Anna has a special interest in working with individuals in the perinatal period and enjoys supporting parents to achieve work/life balance and enhance their general well-being. Having personally experienced difficulties adjusting to parenting herself, she realises how crucial it is to have maximum support during this major life event.  

Anna has a genuine interest in people and their stories and in guiding them towards a more positive and empowered life. She adopts a strengths-based approach in her work and uses a range of different psychological approaches and tailors these to individual needs; these include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and attachment-focused interventions including Circle of Security and Watch, Wait and Wonder.

Anna is a registered psychologist with AHPRA, a Medicare provider of psychological services and is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
