Sally Freedman
Psychologist
BA/Psych, PGDip Science/Psych, MAPS, G/Cert Child and Adolescent Mental Health

Sally is a fully registered psychologist with extensive experience working with families during the perinatal period across health, community and not for profit settings. Sally moved into private practice at Lets Talk Psychology in 2015.

Over the course of her career, now spanning 20 years, Sally has provided psychological assessment and treatment to parents experiencing postnatal depression, anxiety disorders, conception difficulties, fertility issues, pregnancy loss and trauma. Sally is grateful to be supporting parents during their adjustment to parenthood and recognises challenges that commonly occur.  Sally’s strong interest in working with parents experiencing bonding and attachment difficulties developed during her five years working for a large not for profit organisation. Sally provided consultation and training to many adoptive and foster parents; supporting them to develop secure attachments with their non-biological children. Sally is a firm believer in early intervention for the parent-child relationship in order to provide a good foundation for mental health across the lifespan.

Sally is a warm, non-judgmental therapist who works collaboratively with individuals, parent-child dyads, couples and groups. Her treatment modalities are tailored to each individual and may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal therapy and attachment focused interventions including Circle of Security. Sally’s specialist training in parenting groups and child and adolescent mental health allows her to continue to support families with positive parenting practices as their children grow and develop through the years.

Sally’s is currently developing/running group programs to reduce feelings of isolation and create safe compassionate communities for expecting and new parents. In some circumstances, Sally is able to provide video conferencing sessions to to those living in remote and rural areas of Australia.
