GLOW Perinatal Emotional Health and Wellbeing Clinic

Partners to Parents provides online information to help you stay connected to your partner when you become parents. We provide practical tips for partners on how you can support one another through this major life event. Having a strong and healthy relationship benefits the whole family and reduces the chance of perinatal depression and anxiety.

Topics include:

  • how to work together as a team
  • what to do if you think you or your partner are struggling more than normal
  • how to communicate with your partner when you are feeling stressed
  • understanding how your sexual relationship may change when you have a baby

All of our content is based on research evidence and is endorsed by a panel of more than 50 parents, researchers, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors with expertise in mental health during pregnancy and following childbirth.

Nourish Baby – Antenatal Classes Online

Nourish Baby provide the most comprehensive antenatal classes in an online format.  They cover pregnancy health and fitness, childbirth education, breastfeeding information, newborn sleep and settling. Dr Bronwyn Leigh, Director of the Centre for Perinatal Psychology, is an invited contributor to Nourish’s online learning.

Parent-Infant Research Institute (PIRI) is a vigorous and innovative Australian research institute whose vision is to improve the emotional well-being of parents and to optimise infant development.

PIRI provides a unique contribution to early intervention in Australia by combining basic research and clinical expertise to address perinatal depression and other difficulties facing parents and infants. The Institute aims to become the pre-eminent body in Australia conducting research in parent-infant difficulties.

PIRI has long been actively involved in providing training to Maternal & Child Health Nurses, Midwives, General Practitioners, Psychologists and other health professionals.

Centre for Perinatal Psychology is proud to be listed as an Accredited Provider, recognised by PIRI as a preferred provider in psychological care for parents and infants.

  Baby in Mind in an Australian charity focused on supporting the parent-infant relationship.  Their signature program – the First Touch Program – is a cue-based, relational, infant massage program uniquely supporting healthy early relationships.  Evidence-based, the First Touch Program is the only one of its kind in Australia.

Health professionals can access low-cost certified training in the First Touch Program.

Parents can access quality educators around Australia for the opportunity to learn baby massage and healthy touch with their baby.

Whole Heart Psychology is a perinatal psychology practice in Toowong, Brisbane.

P & P Training Company

The P & P Training Company provide specialist fitness training for working with a perinatal population.  This training program is an award-winning multi-industry initiative.  The Centre for Perinatal Psychology’s Director, Dr Bronwyn Leigh, was invited to provide expert opinion on perinatal mental health, contributing to a unique certified program so trained fitness professionals can skilfully assist women during the perinatal period.  The P & P Training Company and certified training grew from Active Playgroup, which offers fitness for Mums and kids.

 

 

 MMHday_image World Maternal Mental Health Day – our Global Partnership

World Maternal Mental Health Day draws attention to essential health concerns for mothers and families.  Life changes around pregnancy and mental illness impact on a woman’s ability to function and thrive. The Centre for Perinatal Psychology is proud to be a Global Partner to World Maternal Mental Health Day, joining other key international organisations in raising awareness, influencing policy and changing attitudes.  World Maternal Mental Health Day is held on the first Wednesday of May, close to ‘Mother’s Day’ and ‘Mental Health Week’ in many countries.  The first was held 4 May 2016.
