Dr Jacinta Hatton
Psychologist (Clinical)
B.A.(Hons), DPsych (Clin)

Jacinta is a warm, passionate and dedicated Clinical Psychologist and Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor, with a commitment to supporting women, couples and families across the journey into parenthood, from preconception to pregnancy and birth through to the early parenting years.

Jacinta works with a broad range of perinatal concerns, including fertility challenges, pregnancy and infant loss, birth trauma, adjustment to parenthood, and complex trauma presentations. She has a particular interest in working at the intersection of perinatal mental health and trauma, and has extensive experience supporting individuals whose experiences of childhood sexual abuse or adult sexual assault are reactivated during pregnancy, birth or early parenting. Her work is informed by experience across a range of clinical settings, including maternity hospital outpatient clinics and a specialist mother–baby inpatient unit.

Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, compassionate and collaborative, grounded in attachment theory and tailored to the individual needs of each client. Jacinta has undertaken extensive training in trauma therapies and is an EMDRAA Accredited Trainer and Consultant in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as an Accredited Schema Therapist. She has a strong passion for the use of EMDR in the treatment of perinatal concerns.

In addition to her clinical work, Jacinta enjoys providing supervision, consultation and training to other practitioners working in the EMDR and perinatal space. She is trained in Circle of Security and has completed Level 1 of Elly Taylor’s Becoming Us training, supporting couples to strengthen their relationship as they transition into parenthood.

Jacinta is known for creating a safe, attuned and supportive therapeutic space, where clients feel heard as they move toward healing and growth during this important life transition. Most importantly, Jacinta is a mother of two young children and brings a lived understanding of the emotional complexities and challenges that can arise across both the journey to conception, birth and the transition into parenthood.
