Dr Rachel Bushing
Clinical Psychologist
BPsySc (Hons), DClinPsych, MAPS, FCCLP

Rachel is passionate about families being as healthy as they can be. Drawing upon 15 years of experience with children and families, including those experiencing adverse and traumatic early lives, she believes that compassionate relationships, exploring people’s strengths, and creativity are the pathways to healing. As an adjunct to her private practice POP ! Psychology, Rachel’s dedicated perinatal practice is called Three Little Birds Perinatal Psychology.

Her team of perinatal psychologists consult out of both Red Hill and Morningside locations. Named after her own 3 children, this group practice is dedicated to helping parents as they navigate the transitions into parenthood, struggling with issues related to conception, pregnancy loss, disability, birth trauma, bonding, and the physical and emotional demands of parenting.

Rachel has a solid background in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Strengths Based & Narrative Therapies, and Family Systems Therapy. For her perinatal work, she expands upon this practice, incorporating methods from advanced training in relevant modalities such as Circle of Security (COS, Hoffman, Cooper & Powell), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT, Briere et al), and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP, Hughes). With Rachel, you can be guaranteed an understanding ear and a big dose of enthusiasm and encouragement. And there is always a warm cuppa, too!
