BPsych(Hons), MClinPsych, FAPS

Kirsty is a Clinical Psychologist and the Director of Oceanside Clinical Psychology in beautiful Kingscliff.  Kirsty has a broad range of clinical experience over 15 years working with Perinatal clients, children, teenagers, families and parents, across a range of treatment settings.  Kirsty endeavours to ensure that she provides a warm, empathetic and supportive environment. Babies and young children are always welcome.

Kirsty first became passionate about working with Perinatal clients when she was conducting research exploring how fathers and couples/families cope when they have a baby born prematurely or a baby in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or Special Care Unit.  This research was conducted over a 3 year period working at Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital and Mater Mothers Hospital. This passion and commitment to working with families and parents has only grown over her career, particularly since having her own children.  Kirsty’s work exploring the transition to parenthood places her in a unique position to offer guidance and support for mothers and families.

Kirsty is particularly passionate about using psychological support to empower and support mothers, fathers and families during this unique stage of life.  Kirsty is available to see both women and men in any stage of their parenting journey, and will work with you to develop a highly individualised plan to help you feel supported and nurtured as you deal with, and process any difficulties and challenges you may be experiencing.

Kirsty works from an attachment-based framework and utilises this approach alongside specific therapy techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotional Focused Therapy. Kirsty hopes to help women and parents increase emotional resilience, improve their quality of life, and to provide coping tools and skills to help cope with psychological difficulties, life transitions and adjustment demands that come with pregnancy, birth and parenthood.
