Larissa is a warm, caring and approachable Clinical Psychologist who enjoys preparing women and their partners for pregnancy, helping them prepare for birth and cope after birth. Enhancing the quality of relationships is a key component in all of this.
Larissa’s primary interests are addressing perinatal anxiety and depression during those three phases in order to ensure healthy social and emotional development of children. Larissa sees women who are anxious about: being pregnant, managing work stress/commitments with pregnancy symptoms, coping with the birth process, managing the responsibilities that ensue after the birth of their child/children and managing work/family balance post birth. She enjoys helping people adjust to transitioning from singledom or coupledom to becoming a family. Helping families gain parenting confidence is paramount in her focus. Larissa enjoys supporting single parents and same sex families.
Larissa has an empowering approach to perinatal psychology services and embraces a Mindfulness approach utilising reflecting parenting. Other therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Approach are also used. Larissa is a Registered Circle of Security Parenting Educator. Larissa is a Registered Circle of Security Parenting Educator and facilitates the Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) groups in Doreen.
In addition, Larissa takes on a body mind approach in therapy. She is a qualified Australian Pilates Method Association Pilates teacher with a Diploma in Pilates Movement Therapy and teaches Pilates Studio and Matwork classes. She has taught Pilates for over ten years. She also practises yoga regularly.
Larissa offers short and long term therapy to assist women, their partners and families to understand and address their concerns.
